About the Owners

Robert Cowan, Founder & Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

A Marine Corps Veteran, Robert has twenty years experience in information technology designing and implementing complex enterprise technology solutions. Robert has in depth expertise in cryptography, wireless security and business efficiency process analytics. Robert has founded several companies in the compliance, security and training spaces. As a former Sergeant of Marines Robert was the ISC Chief for the 2nd Marine Division leading a team of Marines tasked with keeping the Marine Corps LAN/WAN efficient and secure. Robert was deployed to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Robert currently resides in Detroit, Michigan.

David Garcia, Co-Founder & Chief Operating Officer (COO)

A Marine Corps Veteran, David is responsible for managing overall operations and resources, and assists in strategy development and implementation. David has seventeen years of staffing experience, and has partnered with customers ranging from Fortune-500 to start-ups spanning the information security and IT markets. A former Officer of Marines, Garcia served as a Naval Aviator (CH-53D helicopter) and commanded a company of military police. David has deployed overseas to the Far East, Somalia, and Iraq. David resides in Dublin, Ohio.

David Kennedy, Co-Owner & Chief Security Officer (CSO)

A Marine Corps Veteran, David is responsible for providing guidance and helping shape technology strategies that support the firm’s mission. Prior to Compliant Companies, David was a Chief Security Officer (CSO) for Diebold Incorporated, a Fortune 1000 company headquartered in North Canton Ohio. David developed a global security program with a large dedicated team. David is the founder of DerbyCon, a large-scale security conference in Louisville Kentucky. David also authored Metasploit: The Penetration Testers Guide, and was also one of the founding members of the “Penetration Testing Execution Standard (PTES)“. PTES is the industry leading standard and guidelines around how penetration tests should be performed and methodologies. David is the creator of several widely popular open-source tools including “The Social-Engineer Toolkit” (SET), Artillery, and Fast-Track. David has over 12 years of security experience, with over five years specifically for information security consulting. Prior to the private sector, David worked for the United States Marines in cyber warfare and forensics analysis. David resides in Strongsville, Ohio.
